Project Overview
SONY STAR SPHERE is a cultural initiative that gives artists and creators access to a satellite equipped with Sony cameras, enabling artistic creation from space. For its first collaboration, the program invited Hiroshi Sugimoto, internationally acclaimed for his philosophical explorations of time, humanity, and civilization—including Point of Infinity, installed on the hilltop of Yerba Buena Island. Studio 001 handled the entire production and post-production process in-house.

Concept & Direction
Rather than focusing on technology itself, the film centers on thought and perspective. Through conversations with Sugimoto, the project explores how a “cosmic viewpoint” reshapes our understanding of human history and the future of civilization. The camera remains restrained and quiet, allowing space for silence, contemplation, and philosophical depth.

Result
A refined documentary series that bridges cutting-edge technology and contemporary art, positioning SONY STAR SPHERE as a platform for cultural and intellectual exploration.
