Project Overview
Advantage Omar is a travel-driven TV series hosted by Hollywood actor Omar Miller (Sinners, Ballers, 8 Mile). The series follows him to major international tennis tournaments in Paris, London, and New York. Beyond the courts, the show explores each host city’s culture, art, food, and local life—often alongside professional tennis players and global celebrities.
Creative Concept
Produced for Tennis Channel, the series was conceived as a new approach to tennis broadcasting—offering cultural storytelling during breaks between live matches and expanding how audiences engage with the sport.
By blending travel, conversation, and sports, Advantage Omar presents tennis not only as competition, but as a gateway to global culture—inviting fans to step off the court and into the cities that host the world’s biggest tournaments.
Production Approach
A hybrid production model combined YouTube-style agility with broadcast television standards. Filming and editing were conducted on location in Paris, London, and New York, with episodes delivered rapidly for near-live broadcast across multiple regions—an innovative workflow rarely used in traditional sports television at the time.
Result
An intimate sports documentary series that humanizes professional tennis, offering audiences a deeper connection to athletes and the unseen side of competition. Across two seasons and 30 episodes, the series was praised for its fluid, forward-thinking format and Omar Miller’s distinctive hosting style.
Advantage Omar received nominations for Pre-Recorded Show at the International Academy of Web Television Awards and Best Web Series at HollyShorts Film Festival, recognizing its successful fusion of sports, culture, and modern digital storytelling.
