Turning Opening Day Into a Cinematic Experience
Studio 001 produced the opening game film for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters for the second year in a row.
Once again, we had the privilege of creating the visual experience that helped launch a new season at ES CON FIELD HOKKAIDO, one of the most distinctive stadiums in Japanese professional baseball.
Building Beyond Last Year
For the 2026 production, we set out to build on the response to last year’s opening film and push the experience further.
Our goal was not only to elevate the quality of the film itself, but to synchronize it more deeply with the live ceremony, stadium direction, lighting, music, live cameras, player and manager entrances, and the energy of the crowd.
Through close collaboration with the Fighters’ event team and live camera team, we designed the entire opening sequence as one continuous experience, where pre-produced film, live production, and the atmosphere inside the stadium could move together as one.
The Energy of 35,000 Fans
A stadium film is never just screen content.
In that moment, 35,000 baseball fans are gathered in the same place, sharing the same anticipation, emotion, and excitement as their team begins a new season.
That is what makes it a live experience.
This year, we challenged ourselves to create a level of event documentation and live broadcast expression rarely seen in Japanese baseball entertainment. We approached the stadium as one vast cinematic space, carefully shaping the connection between the pre-produced film and the live ceremony so the transition between screen and stadium felt seamless.
For an Opening Moment Fans Would Remember
Opening Day is a special moment for the team, the fans, and everyone involved.
How much emotion can a film build at the very beginning of a season? How much can it transform the atmosphere inside the stadium? How can it help create a moment that stays in the memory of the fans?
Those were the questions that guided this project.
We are deeply grateful to the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters players and organization, the event team, the video team, and every crew member who helped bring this opening ceremony to life.
It was an honor to be part of this special Opening Day moment again in 2026.
